The flavor sadly was not very pronounced and I was getting that new coil taste. It took a good tankful of e-liquid before that taste went and the flavor came through really crisp. New coils generally last one to two weeks depending on how often they are used and if they are properly broken in. The life of the coils can be extended with proper care and maintenance. The GeekVape Aegis X Tank VPC allows the vaper to control the wattage for each second of operation. Raise or lower it to get hard throat hits or mellow and pleasurable experiences. For example, allow it to run at 80 watts for a few seconds and then get it to go down to 70 and 50 watts. The wattage will go down for the remained of the vaping session. It is a customizable feature that can be modified to suit the vaper’s wants. How Long do the Coils Last?

Selectable as either standard, powerful or soft. Standard will fire at whatever wattage you’ve selected. Soft will give a slow ramp-up to your set wattage. Powerful will act like a pre-heat function, initially firing at a higher wattage then dropping down to your selected wattage. Variable Temperature Control (TC) Since it uses 18650 batteries, no portable charger has to be lugged around. Instead, just bring a few extra sets of batteries and a bottle of e-liquid, and whoever is using it is good to go for several days. The GeekVape Aegis X Kit The Aegis X will be a fantastic addition to your vape arsenal or the perfect mod for someone wanting to get in to sub ohm vaping. Two coils are supplied with the Aegis X 200W kit but unfortunately both are the same type, the Mesh X1 KA1 0.2 ohm coil. Geekvape specify the wattage for this coil is between 30W–90W, but best at 60W-80W. Interestingly, the Vaporesso GT CCELL, GT mesh and the Smok Baby coils will also fit this tank. Geekvape Aegis X 200W Mod | Functionality Increasing the wattage to 40W certainly produced a harder hit improving the flavor and vapor no end.GeekVape’s mods always provide excellent flavor and a good amount of vapor, and this vape mod is no exception. The ability to get the more precise temperature and wattage levels help to increase the flavor. In addition, cloud production is fantastic with this robust, little mod. One drag and exhale off of it is enough to clear the room. Flavor lovers and cloud chasers will be pleased as punch with this new Geekvape model. Competitors of the GeekVape Aegis X GeekVape Aegis X vs. Aegis Legend Because the Aegis X 200W mod uses dual 18650 batteries, I really would only ever charge my batteries using an external charger. If you do wish to charge your batteries in the mod, at least Geekvape have included two-cell battery active balanced charging as a feature. It’s powered by dual external 18650 batteries incorporating the advanced AS 2.0 chip which provides the control, functionality and a host of safety features. The Aegis X fires up to 200W, providing modes for Power (W), Temperature Control (TC), Variable Power Curve (VPC) and Bypass. After filling and priming the coil with my favorite juice (Thug Juice – 50/50 at 3mg), I set the wattage to a pretty low 20W to allow the coil to slowly bed in. After a few draws with very minimal vapor and flavor, I increased the wattage to 25W.

The other side houses the massive 2.4 inch colored OLED display. This screen is a beauty! Very clear and very crisp, it shows coil resistance, volts, amps, a puff counter, wattage or temperature and the battery status of each individual battery. Firing the Aegis X is carried out by a fairly large bevelled button on the front above the two smaller +/- bevelled buttons. The response and feel of the buttons is very positive with no button rattle at all. Once the top cap is removed, there are two decent sized slots to allow for a large tip e-liquid bottle to be used. Filling can be carried out using either slot. Saying this, I have heard that some people have been reporting this condition on their Aegis X mod. Hopefully Geekvape take this on board and resolve this issue soon.As for the Cerberus sub ohm tank, even though it’s been around for a while now, it’s still a really good sub ohm tank. I liked the top fill mechanism, very easy and straight forward to fill. Coil performance was impressive and I will be trying the other coil options. The only downside was the 2ml capacity (damn TPD). Using this on a daily basis will require getting a bigger glass to increase its capacity. Although the manual touches on the menu settings, it’s a bit vague to say the least and it didn’t come all that easy to me. I would recommend before first use having a good play with the different menus before you fit the tank.

Unfortunately, the user manual doesn’t really tell you much about the different settings and what they do. There are 6 variable wattage settings, each adjustable from 5W to 200W with each setting being adjustable over a time range of 0.5 seconds to 1.2 seconds. The overall height of the tank, including the low profile 810 drip tip and excluding the 510 threaded connector is 35mm. One point worth mentioning, the 510 threaded connector does have a pretty decent protruding center pin (always handy for those hybrid mods). A typical slide style box that we’re accustomed to see from china houses the Aegis X and bundled Cerberus tank. Inside the box, you’ll find a micro USB charging cable, a spare coil for your Cerberus, some o-rings and spares as well as some reading material. Fair warning, keep the manual, you’ll need it. Unscrew the Cerberus tank from the mod. Ensure your tank is empty of e-liquid before you try to disassemble the tank, otherwise you’ll have e-liquid spilling out. After only a few months I got the dreaded “battery too low” error when nothing had happened to the mod at all.
