We don't have to go out-side the walls for our whole life. We can eat, sleep and survive just fine here... but isn't that like being a caged animal?" Kuklo was a decent character, but after he meets Sharle he mostly just feels like a generic Shounen protagonist. He's not bad, just mundane and doesn't really fit in with the overall complex cast, especially next to the secondary protagonist Sharle who ended up accomplishing so much. Some of the world-building doesn't line up with the main series such as titans being able to walk at night and them disappearing the second they're killed, but most of the inconsistencies were minor things that weren't enough to completely destroy the immersion. The limited scope of the plot and setting also made the pacing feel somewhat tedious at times because most of the drama is never taken beyond the walls of the cities, but it also made room for more personal time between the characters living out their daily lives together and really learning to put their heads together to help form a better world for humanity's last survivors. Reiner and Bertolt convince Ymir to join their side, claiming that they can ensure both her and Krista's safety, but Eren remains intent on revenge against the two guys. While Ymir and Eren heal in the forest of Titans, their rescue party approaches. Ymir transforms and captures Krista. Reiner transforms into the Armored Titan and carries Ymir, Bertolt and Eren while the rescue party pursues them. Amid the chaos of the battle, Eren finds himself against the same Titan who killed his mother. He discovers much to his surprise that he has the power to command other Titans to do his bidding (an ability Reiner refers to as "the Coordinate"), using it to avenge his mother and drive Reiner and Bertolt away. Eren and his friends then return home safely, but Ymir parts with Krista and allies with Reiner and Bertolt, who retreat outside the walls. Sungeki no Kyojin ( 寸劇の巨人, "Titan Short Skits") is a comedic yonkoma manga written and illustrated by Hounori, released on Kodansha's Manga Box smartphone and tablet application from December 2013 to December 30, 2014, in both Japanese and English. [164] The first tankōbon volume was published on August 8, 2014, and the second on April 9, 2015. I give this book five colossal titans out of five :D Sasha is the best character ever, especially because of this: In North America, the series was published in English by Kodansha USA. The first volume was published on June 19, 2012, and the last on October 19, 2021. [27] [28] Spin-offs This series owns my soul and lives in my mind rent free and I would give my heart for these characters. In full honesty, I already know a lot of the story because I just did a marathon of the Anime, but because of how it left off, I'm now in a tear to know what happens. :) So, just to be clear, the Anime is a top-notch production and deserves tons of accolades. I'm pretty sure this manga will step-up, too, so I'm remaining patient.Best Graphic Novels & Comics". Goodreads. Archived from the original on April 18, 2021 . Retrieved March 2, 2021. Coupled with the entryways for things in the world, well, I feel like I really am getting to know this world right from the beginning knowing some details of the way things operate and why some other things are happening. After Eren wakes up from his nightmare, we are introduced to Armin and Mikasa. Armin is Eren’s best friend and he fills Eren’s head with dreams of seeing the outside world beyond the walls, telling him stories of oceans, deserts, mountains, volcanoes and all sorts of things they could never imagine witnessing with their own eyes if they continue to spend the rest of their lives hiding in mundane safety behind the walls. Armin is frail and timid, but he’s incredibly smart and proves his worth as a brilliant tactician. He’s also very loyal and protects his friends when the going gets tough. This is one of the best beginnings I've ever read. Chilling, strong, and already setting a place for much bigger things to come.

The Survey Corps sets a cunning trap to capture the mysterious Abnormal Titan that broke through their ranks. As Armin tries to determine the grotesque creature’s identity and purpose, Scouts report Titans closing in on all sides! But they don’t seem to be after the humans—instead they’re targeting the Titan! Manga Division | 2010 [14th] Japan Media Arts Festival Archive". Japan Media Arts Festival. Archived from the original on February 4, 2022 . Retrieved March 18, 2022.I found the main character brash, whiny, and annoying, and the fact that he's prone to shouting and going nuts didn't endear him to me at all. The other characters were practically faceless/nameless to me and completely forgettable, except for Mikasa (thanks, FREEBIRD.) She's a badass and should be the real main character, and I suspect this will be the case with the way things end up, and I'm completely ok with that. The truth revealed through the memories of Grisha's journals shakes all of Eren's deepest beliefs. There is no rugged but free land beyond the Walls—there is a whole other world, equally full of oppression and war. Suddenly, the ambitions that have animated the Survey Corps for generations seem small and naïve. What is there left to fight for?
