About this deal

Rewind]: Godox AD200 Review | One Year and 75 Weddings Later 1. On-Camera Bounce: More Power, Fewer Worries MULTIPLE USER FUNCTIONS: The Godox V1 features a large range of controllable functions such as TTL, exposure compensation, high speed sync, front curtain sync, rear curtain sync, multi flash. I played around with the Godox V860II flash using commander mode on the D750. It works!! I can also trigger the Nikon SB700 at the same time. It measures 7.8 by 3.0 by 3.7 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.2 pounds. The flash head tilts and rotates, so you can position it for direct or indirect illumination.

With the bare flash pointed directly at my light meter, the V860II measured f/8.7 while the V1 measured f/8.8. Inside my 173cm umbrella, the V860II gave me f/8.7 and the V1 a solid f/8.5. Two-tenths of a stop never killed anyone. I'm really impressed with the size of the unit barely changing with these comparisons. Recycle Time You need a bluetooth enabled transmitter, that can be used with the Godox smart device app, there are two right now, the X2T and the R2 Pro II. The V1 also features a powerful LED modeling light, a master-slave function and a beautiful user interface to create a high-tech and impressive flash gun. The V1 features HSS up to 1/8000th of a second to capture those incredibly crisp images for fast-moving action and TTL support. The V1 is compatible with the latest and leading camera brands such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, and Panasonic. Compatible with Godox's X-Series triggering system. The Godox V1 TTL Li-ion flash has a round head to provide soft and even illumination, like studio units. If you remember, at the start I said the main reason I rushed out to buy the V1 was because I was hopeful that Godox would fix the weak hotshoe issue that plagued the Godox v860ii for Sony.

The major difference between this and most other speedlights, bar the aforementioned Profoto A1, is the round fresnel head. While not being the answer to all the issues we have when using speedlights, it does offer some benefits over standard rectangular heads. However, there are a couple of downsides to this shape as well. If they'll ever have to file bankrupcy they clearly missed the boat and I'd be prolly be gone long before this might happen. It's been a long time since Godox released the V1. I've tried several times to write a Godox V1 review. But somehow I could never find the right words to write. It's probably not a bad thing that I've waited. I've had plenty of time to put this speedlight through it's paces. I have used it as my primary flash at weddings for over a year now. So I can honestly say I am writing about the advantages/disadvantages from experience. In some ways, the V1 sits strangely within the Godox lineup. For purely studio work, photographers interested in a compact, battery-powered flash might be better served by the diminutive, but more powerful, AD100Pro. Users simply looking for a speedlight will appreciate the V860 III’s broader focal range, built-in reflector and identical output power.

Yes, it would. B10 is what caught my eye because it's so compact for such a powerful flash and for outdoor use weight matters a lot, as a heavy flash up there in the air needs a heavier duty stand, sand bag etc whereas a lighter weight flash may not need quite as rugged support. A lot of people use B1's for studio work, I believe. For me the Profotos as a whole are a bit on the pricey side, my Elinchroms were bought at discounts and they have worked well, although the HS Plus radio transmitter is somewhat ridiculous in how long it takes to communicate with the flash units to obtain an update of the current settings. I think Profoto B1's in place of my current lights would have been almost twice as expensive, and it was simply not economically practical. But now the B10 and A1 are very appealing to me as portable lights, they are still expensive but at least they have benefits (I'm aware Godox seems to have copied the A1, though I read Profoto is taking them to court). Which brings up another question: do I want to fund a company that invents a really clever and useful thing (the attachment interface and modifiers of the A1, or a company who copies it and sells it cheap)? I have to say that again in this case my priority would go to the original inventor, even if they have additional costs (R&D costs money). If one can live with the somewhat lesser quality ,let's assume it is, but just wants a speedlight for occasional use the difference in money involved together with the added features is hard to neglect. Multi-flash Setup: The MF12 can function as a multiple-flash unit when attached to the mounting ring and can extend its use much further than when used alone. The combination of flashes can handle several scenarios. As a final note, 2.4G wireless technology enhances your shooting flexibility and enables long-range transmission for your Nikon camera. This flash trigger uses 2.4 GHz wireless technology, which allows photographers to fire flashes from a distance as long as they have a clear line of sight. You can use SB-5000's as on-camera flashes and as optically triggered remotes on CLS-compatible older camera bodies. However, radio control is only available with the D5, D850, D500, D7500, Z6 and Z7, for now. High-Power Flash: It is designed to provide a powerful flash that ensures better light control and consistent illumination of your images. In addition to its 10-level brightness adjustment feature, the previsualization and adjustment settings enable you to adjust the lighting levels and capture detailed shots even in low-light conditions. You wouldn't even need the XPro trigger since you can operate the 860IIs with the inbuilt menus but it's a bit cumbersome where the trigger makes life more easy. (but you don't HAVE to buy/use it) Compatible not only with Nikon but also with Canon cameras, which makes it an ideal choice for multi-camera studios. I’ve owned the Godox V1 for close to a year now and I’ve used it at every single wedding I’ve shot. While many people have made a huge deal about the round-head, I am here to review the Godox V1 as a whole: what makes it different from a regular flash, how I use during weddings, and why it might just be the permanent on-camera flash solution you’ve been looking for. Godox V1 | Pros

Advanced Features: There is no doubt that the GODOX V1-N will provide professional quality results at an exceptional price point, and they offer a number of features that cannot be ignored. With this flash, you’ll have access to reliable power and performance that won. You also get fully supported TTL auto flash, manual flash, L/8000s high-speed sync, and many more. It has a flash duration of 1/300 to 1/20000 seconds and can cover a range of 28 to 105mm. The V1 sets itself apart from other options on the market by its sheer versatility. Capable of doing almost everything a regular speedlight does, it is also able to operate in a studio and to provide better illumination than a rectangular head. When bouncing the flash, the round head doesn’t matter much, but for direct illumination, or when going through modifiers (softboxes, gobos) the V1 will excel. Undoubtedly Godox is one of the market’s most popular and trusted flash brands. They offer many advantages that make them ideal for photographers of all levels who use Nikon cameras.I haven't noticed a big price hike in Nikon flashes compared to their past history, though when features are added such as active cooling in the SB-5000, greater zoom range, and radio control, it is understandable that the price does increase somewhat. A comparison to Yongnuo or Godox can be made of course, they are cheaper but to my knowledge there are no repair facilities across the world. I need a financially healthy Nikon over the course of a longer period of time and buying Nikon accessories helps with that, so I do that rather than complain when they go bankrupt and suddenly I have no support or repair parts for the Nikon gear that I use.
