S. Very much a favourite among Star Wars collectors the Hildebrandt artwork is incredibly sought after, with this version printed in much lower numbers than regular 1977 one-sheets with no later printings. Featuring country unique Japanese artwork this exceptional investment grade example is truly one of my favourite posters from the franchise. Here begins the greatest cinematic epic of all time, and arguably one of the greatest stories ever told. In 1982, Japan premiered the first version of Star Wars to use Japanese voice-over actors rather than subtitles. As a standout addition to your home or room wall decor, it elevates any space and brings a timeless piece of the galaxy far, far away into your daily life.

Star Wars (retroactively titled Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope) is a 1977 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century Fox. All frames come standard with lightweight and shatterproof clear acrylic that protects the posters from dust and fingerprints. George Lucas mentioned in an interview that he saw a “Jidai Geki” program on television while in Japan a year or so before the movie was made, and he liked the word. This very rare film poster is the first release British Quad with Tom Chantrell artwork and is known as the Style 'C'. The incredible artwork by British movie poster artist Tom Chantrell has become the defining image of the Star Wars universe.

Trivia: The word “Jedi” is derived from the Japanese words “Jidai Geki,” which translate as “period adventure drama. Lucernafilm was a Prague movie production company founded in 1912 by Vacslav Havel and kept producing movies even during the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia.

In fact, the earliest published photo of the poster itself to come to light in the Lucasfilm Archives is from July 27, over two months after the release on May 25 (not to be confused with the Hildebrandt version of the artwork, which was used for early newspaper ads and retail posters). x 63″ (GRANDE) or 24 x 33″ (PETITE) French movie posters normally come with different artwork to either the US or the UK.

While the lovable protocol droid and astromech duo has become a fixture on nearly every major Star Wars ad graphic to date, their inclusion on the famous Style A artwork was essentially an afterthought. Welcome to the official Film/Art Gallery collection of vintage original Star Wars movie posters, where we offer a wide range of artwork for cinema's ultimate science fiction fantasy film series.
